Loans

A loan with the jewel as surety.

For when you need capital and do not wish to sell. The offer is based on the piece, and the terms are written down before you agree.

Custody

The piece stays. The decision stays yours.

While a loan is outstanding, the jewel, watch, or gold remains in our care. It is not worn and it is not shown. When the agreement is satisfied, it comes back to you.

If you would rather sell, say so. We will tell you which path fits the piece, and we will not blur the two.

The order of things

From the first note to a signed agreement.

  1. I

    Write

A few lines are enough: what the piece is, and that you are considering a loan rather than a sale.

  2. II

    Meet

We see it in Palm Beach, or we tell you how to insure a shipment before you send anything.

  3. III

    Evaluate

Often during the appointment. If a stone needs a laboratory, or a watch needs its papers checked, we say so before you leave it.

  4. IV

    Agree, or do not

You receive a written offer. If you decline, you leave with the piece. An evaluation does not oblige you.

What to bring

The piece, and whatever proves it.

  • The jewel, watch, or gold itself.
  • Any laboratory report, receipt, box, or service papers.
  • A government identification.
  • The questions you actually have.

Questions

Do I give up the piece?

For the life of the loan, it stays with us as security. Ownership returns to your hands when the agreement is satisfied. If the agreement says a piece may be sold at the end of a default, that is written down before you sign.

Can I sell instead?

Yes. Some clients sell outright. We name the path in the offer so a sale is never mistaken for a loan.

What if I do not like the offer?

You decline it and leave with the piece. There is no charge for hearing a number you do not want.

May I ship a piece?

Yes, when that is the safer way. We agree the carrier and the insurance before you send it.

Is the appointment private?

Yes. We do not publish our clients or their pieces, and we do not discuss one appointment with the next.
